Waldorf confirmed for Ryder Stakes Mon, 17 Jul 2017
The connections of two-year-olds Getty and Waldorf have decided on late winter and early spring plans for the talented pair.
Both trained by Andrew Campbell for an identical ownership group headed by Tommy Heptinstall, Getty and Waldorf finished first and third in Saturday’s $20,000 NZB Insurance Pearl Series two-year-old race at Te Rapa. Getty is now unbeaten in two starts.
The Listed Ryder Stakes at Otaki on July 29 had been mentioned as a possible target for both horses, but only one of the pair will line up for the season-ending feature.
“We’ve decided that we’ll go to the Ryder with Waldorf, and then he will carry on to the Wanganui Guineas in September,” Campbell said. “Getty will have a week in the paddock and then go to a nice three-year-old race on the first day at Hawke’s Bay – the one that Ugo Foscolo won last year. Then we might look at the Hawke’s Bay Guineas.”
