Scoreline @ 22-07-12: Lisa Allpress 156 – Matt Cameron 155

The battle for the 2011-12 jockeys' premiership continues at Oamaru today, where Matt Cameron has a full book of eight rides and Lisa Allpress seven following the scratching of her Race 7 mount Sandfly.

Cameron pulled back two wins on Allpress at New Plymouth yesterday, with just one win now separating them, 156 plays 155.

Allpress's full Oamaru list: R1 Da Best Coup; R2 Smart Halo; R3 The Harrier; R4 Braemar; R5 Hydrogen; R6 Tappy Lee; R8 Pauanui.

Cameron: R1 Napatap; R2 Chief's Daughter; R3 Outrageous Fortune; R4 Winning Genes; R5 Captain Cruising; R6 Champagne Eva; R7 Needastar; R8 Essential.

An interesting sidelight is that five of Cameron's mounts - Chief's Daughter, Winning Genes, Captain Cruising, Needastar and Essential - and two of Allpress's - Hydrogen and Pauanui - are trained by John Sargent, the clear leader on the trainers' premiership.

With a tally of 105 wins, Sargent is just three short of the record held by Mark Walker. He has 10 runners across seven of today's races and expects to have starters at all but Thursday's Awapuni meeting before the season closes at Oamaru on Monday week.

Allpress and Cameron will continue their rivalry at Rotorua tomorrow, followed by Paeroa Wednesday, Awapuni Thursday, Blenheim Friday, Te Rapa or Otaki Saturday, and finally, Oamaru.
