Sistema Stakes winner Summer Passage is almost certain to cross the Tasman and take on some of Australia’s best juveniles in Sydney at the end of this month.

The A$800,000 Sydney yearling purchase, who added last Thursday’s Group One feature at Ellerslie to an impressive earlier victory in the Listed Slipper at Matamata, is likely to stretch out to 1400 metres for the A$1 million Gr. 1 Sires’ Produce Stakes at Randwick on the opening day of The Championships on April 1.

“All going well, and provided we’re happy with how he works for the rest of this week, he’ll head over to Sydney and run in the Sires,” co-trainer Andrew Scott said this afternoon.

A jockey has yet to be confirmed for the Randwick raid, but leading Australian jockey Blake Shinn rode Summer Passage to victory in the Sistema Stakes at Ellerslie and later tweeted “hope to see you in Sydney”.
