Sharrock thrilled with stable star's progress Tue, 10 Jul 2012

Quality racemare Shez Sinsational is back in work with Allan Sharrock, who has two possible Australian assignments in mind for his stable star in the spring.

“I’m not against going to Melbourne with her for a couple of weight-for-age races,” the Taranaki trainer said. “She definitely won’t be going for the Cox Plate though, the turning track would be right against her.”

Sharrock believed the Gr. 1 Mackinnon Stakes at Flemington on November 3 would be a more suitable target for the rising five-year-old. “The Sandown Classic is another race we might have a look at,” he said.

Shez Sinsational opened her winning account in Australia during the Queensland winter carnival with her first-up success in the Gr. 2 Hollindale Stakes on the Gold Coast. She then finished midfield in the Gr. 1 Doomben Cup before a fifth placing on a heavy track in the Gr. 3 Eagle Farm Cup.

The Ekraar mare had spelled particularly well after the trip and Sharrock was delighted with her condition on her return to the stable. “She’s come back looking massive; she’s got a phenomenal constitution,” Sharrock said.

Shez Sinsational will kick off her spring campaign on this side of the Tasman, although her progress will determine whether she will be in action during the Triple Crown carnival at Hastings.

“I earmarked the Spring Classic for her, but that might come up a bit soon,” Sharrock said. “The Captain Cook Stakes at Trentham is a nice race and with a rating of 106 most of her racing will be limited to weight-for-age."

The winner of nine races, including three at Group One level in the Zabeel Classic, Darci Brahma International Stakes and the Auckland Cup, Shez Sinsational has already banked more than $1 million during her 23-start career.
