Guiseppina's Telegraph Handicap win hasn't altered plans to skip next Saturday's Thorndon Mile.

Despite now being equal favourite with Shez Sinsational for the Gr. 1 Harcourts Thorndon Mile at Trentham next Saturday, Telegraph Handicap winner Guiseppina will be reserved for the Gr. 1 Waikato Draught Sprint at Te Rapa on February 11.

Guiseppina and the last start Zabeel Classic winner are at the top of the TAB’s fixed odds market on $5, ahead of Sadist at $9 and Villifye, November Rain and Banchee on $10. Today co-trainer Steven Ramsay told www.theinformant.co.nz that Guiseppina that after discussions with owners Peter and Philip Vela, the decision has been made to not return to Trentham for the feature 1600-metre event.

“The Telegraph was the race we set her for at Trentham so we’ll stick to our plan and wait for Te Rapa,” he said. “That’s at weight-for-age and the 1400 metres will be a natural step up from 1200.

“It was a big effort to win yesterday and considering the trip to Wellington and back she’s arrived home in good order. Peter and Philip are thrilled to get the Group One win with her and they’re keen to give her the time she needs to get over it and plan our next race.”

The close finish between Six O’Clock News and Roi d’jeu in yesterday’s Mills Reef Winery Trentham Stakes hasn’t altered Green Supreme’s position as $3 favourite for the Pacific Jewellers Wellington Cup. Marton Cup winner also remains the $7 second favourite, while Six O’Clock News and Roi d’jeu share the next line with Single Minded at $10.
